Spring Migration in Maine

Spring Migration in Maine

BY Ellen M. Taylor

Bobolinks will return
from their winter in Argentina,
where they are sold at markets
and nest in decorative cages
to fill patios with music.
Here, they dart among the lupine,
their bubbling song spilling
across the carpets of timothy
and alfalfa, swept by wind.
These songbirds without words
fill the fields with music
and ask nothing
in return.
